Thanks for posting here.
You said that these problem computers are installed from a GHOST image. I
think the problem may be caused by the computer SID is same. When we
install a computer with the Windows XP, the computer won't be same.
Therefore, if we ghost the computer and restore the ghost image to other
computer, the computer SID is same. This will cause the logon issue and DNS
issue since the Windows server will treat them as one computer and DNS
register will be replaced by the computer which logon last.
We can try the utility to solve the problem. The utility name is NewSID.
You can download it from:
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/utilities.shtml
Run it on the computer which is created by the same GHOST image. This will
create different computer SID for each one. Then, remove them from the
domain and re-join them back to the Windows 2003 domain.
