I did not remove all the policies, just copied the default domain one which
actually stil does run.

the everyone group is not listed in the "c:\windows folder permissions. ITs
not either on the other domain controllers permissions either so surely if
this was the issue the messages would also be appearing on the other domain
controller's event log ???

If you copy a GPO and modify it should not create problems. Or did you complete
remove all policies on domain level?

Root folder is the highest folder so "windows"

thinking on the issue further. The GPO that the 1058 error refers to
is a
copy of the
Default Domain Policy and is one i have customised over time. Is it
worth
disabling this policy and creating a new copy of the default domain
policy
and editing that ?
Also one of the articles mentions permissions for the "everyone" group

"Note This issue may also occur if "Everyone" has been removed from
the root drive NTFS file system permissions. If "Everyone" has been
removed from the root drive NTFS permissions, restore the "Everyone"
group's NTFS permissions on the root folder by granting "Everyone" the
special Read and Execute NTFS permissions on the root folder only.
Does this mean the C\windows\sysvol folder or the
C:\windows\sysvol\Sysvol shared folder ?

Hi guys.

Am getting annoying 1058/1030 event IDs every 5 mins in the
application log on the First/Primary Domain controller in our
domain. The events are not happening on the other domain controller.
Both are 2003 server SP2.

the event is Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO
cn={AE4F09C6-C071-4932-8EE2-803EBEA5CDEF},cn=policies,cn=system,DC=i
,D C=XXXXXXX,DC=co,DC=uk. The file must be present at the location
<\\i.XXXXXXX.co.uk\sysvol\i.XXXXXXX.co.uk\Policies\{AE4F09C6-C071-49
32 -8EE2-803EBEA5CDEF}\gpt.ini>. (Access is denied. ). Group Policy
processing aborted.

Have followed some articles from eventid.net etc. checked
permissions etc and am at a bit of a loss. Anyone any ideas ?
