Hello eggedd2k,
You can not confiugre SBS as a member server, it MUST be Domain controller in the domain holding all FSMO roles, thats by design in SBS OS version. If i am correct it will stop working after 30 days when used in workgroup mode without installing AD on it.
Best regards

thanks for your replies.
we have a relatively small network - 42 computers. One domain
controller (which runs the usual server services plus just two (32-bit
only) business apps) and one Exchange member server. We really
wouldn't have the need (or funds) to warrant a third member server to
run apps.
Now that I know you can mix 32-bit and 64-bit I'm more clear on how I
want to do this.
My next issue is how to get Exchange 2007 configured on the member
server (sbs 2008) to link to active directory on the DC.
Previously when doing Exchange installs I've done domain prep etc and
installed Exchange from scratch. How do you do all this when Exchange
is already installed on SBS 2008? Bearing in mind that the SBS 2008
system won't be the domain controller?
.
