RE: Server Problems related to "Not enough storage..." Messages

Thanks for the suggestion. I did think of that and the computers account is
still in Active Directory.
I may be mistaken but wouldn't a missing or corrupt computer account cause
the problems constantly? In our case, a reboot solves the problem and then it
comes back within 24 hours.

Hi Stingray.
This server looks to me that it has "fallen off the network" so to speak,
wonder if the account for the server can still be seen in AD or whether
someone has deleted it. I would try removing the server from the network on
to a workgroup and then re-add it to the domain, that way the SID can be
re-generated from the DC.

We are having problems with our web server which is causing our web pages
with SQL queries to error out. We also are unable to RDP to the server, we
cannot browse the web from the server console and we see other authentication
related issues. We’ve found the following events in the logs at the time the
problems start.
In the System Log:
------------------------------------------------
Event ID: 8021 Source: BROWSER
The browser service was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the
browser master <Domain Controller> on the network
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}.

Event ID: 8032 Source: BROWSER
The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on
transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{ XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX }. The
backup browser is stopping.

Event ID: 5719 Source NETLOGON
This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain
controller in domain <Domain> due to the following:
Not enough storage is available to process this command.
This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is
connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain
administrator.
ADDITIONAL INFO
If this computer is a domain controller for the specified domain, it sets up
the secure session to the primary domain controller emulator in the specified
domain. Otherwise, this computer sets up the secure session to any domain
controller in the specified domain.

Also, in the Application Log:
------------------------------------------------
Event ID: 1053 Source Userenv
Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (Not enough storage is
available to complete this operation. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

We have searched and found quite a few KB articles and web posts relating to
the “Not enough storage is available to complete this command” message. In
response we have increased the swap file size to 1.5 to 3 time the physical
RAM and updated the NIC drivers.
While the problem was active we checked system performance and determined
that there was no unusual CPU utilization and plenty of free RAM and space in
the Paged and non-Paged pool. I also ran netstat and discovered that a huge
number of TCP ports were open at the time. I suspect that this is the source
of the “Not enough storage…” messages but I have not been able to determine
what process or application is generating the excessive TCP port usage. Does
anyone out there have any further troubleshooting suggestions or advice? We
appreciate any help we can get. We’re stumped.
We are running Windows Server 2003, SP2.
3GB RAM,
RAID 5 with 2 Logical Drives.
C: 30GB, 12.8GB Free
D: 106GB, 74GB Free.
