I'm reluctant to start 'managing' redirection of their local
domain profile. Definately I don't want them to spend time
trying to redirect My Music and My Pictures to their home folder
(which has a quota of 100Mb anyway).
You can exclude those, I believe.
Do you still think we should tak redirection steps in this
scenario?
Yes, I would.
OK, by this you mean redirecting 'fat' folders from their profile to
another local folder in their computer....?

What would the point of that be? One folder on their local machine
is no better or worse than another folder on their local machine. The
redirecting is for placing them on a Server. The files do not
move "back and forth" to and from the Server when they log
on,...they only move across the network if the user intensionally
moves/copies the file to another location.

That was my original point too, the students explicitly save the files
they want in their home folder at the server. All other settings and
filen (My Documents, Desktop, Favorites are only local at their own
computer).

I just did not understand why I should need to use Redirection in this
cas and one poster suggested.

It's up to you. I don't want any user data stored/resident on desktops. I
want it on the server where I can mange/control/delete it, and I want to be
able to wipe out a profile/workstation without wondering if anything's
missing. I don't want to trust that users will put important data on the
server; I want it all going there by default. Your mileage may vary.
