Re: largest volume Windows 2003 can support

Meinolf,
After reading all articles I still have some questions.
1. in the 3rd article it says "NTFS supports volumes up to 256 TB minus 64
KB (232 clusters minus 1 cluster) .."

2. in the 1st article it shows in the table that max. NTFS cluster size for
Windows 2000 and 2003 is 4 KB. Therefore, the max. volume size is 2 TB.

So, even NTFS can support 256 TB technically but Windows 2000/2003 can not
support NTFS cluster size larger than 4 KB, which results 2 TB as max. volume
size. Right?

The 1st article only applies to 32-bit. Wondering what will be in 64-bit?
Does it allow to use cluster size larger than 4 KB?

Thanks.

I'm building a new server and it's connect a SAN. What the largest
volume Windows 2003 (32 bit and 64 bit) can support respectively? I
might not need to use the max amount but need to know.

Thanks.
