I will post in microsoft.public.windows.group_policy
by the way, you try not redirecting a start menu, when you have 500+ machines,
and over 500 diffrent applications, running from diffrent locations!!!

When our teaching staff take their laptops home, they log onto their
cached user account, they can then work on thier documents that have
been synced in offline files.
But our users desktop and start menus are group policy redriections
to a server address, and these are not being stored or cached.
The strange thing is the start menu and desktop are stored and
working on most staff laptops, it is only not working on new or
re-ghosted machines.
Can any one help?
Thank you
Sounds like you need to change your GPOs so that laptops redirect Desktop (&
App Data, if you redirect that, which you should!) back to the local profile
folder. You'll need loopback processing for this. Try posting in
microsoft.public.windows.group_policy for more help with that.
Personally, I don't redirect Start Menu as the apps may vary too widely from
PC to PC. YMMV.
