can't install program even though admin

I have remoted into a windows server 2003 and tried to install a .msi program
with a domain account that is in the admin group. The installation fails
because it says that I do not have the appropriate permissions to access the
item.

If I remote in but instead log onto the local PC with an account that is in
the admin group, I can install the program no problem.

Why can I not install with the domain account which is in the admin group?
