Cheers. The event shows the same message on each bootup or when starting the
service manually in that it that the service failed to start with an unknown
error.
Goign into properties of the RRAS management tool and trying to change
settings or rebuilding in there brings a message that the Datastore could not
be found.
Other people with this message were advised to re-register 3 DLL's, I am
unable to do this as the DLL's are missing.
This is looking like a full server rebuild which I REALLY do not want to do
just because of one component.

I've setup Routing and Remote Access Services on a Windows 2000 server and
it
has been running for over 4 years without any problem. Recently a third
party
came in to install some new accounts software on the RDP Server, but for
some
reason (I wasn't there) needed to install the licencing server on our main
server, the one hosting RRAS.
Since then None of my external users can get a VPN connection to our
server.
I've tried everything from trying to re-register dlls to reinstalling the
service pack, but the RRAS shows the same error.
Is there an option to re-install RRAS or is there a way it gets
re-installed
with another component. I have thought above removing the network card and
re-installing that hoping to rebuild everything networky, but looking for
advice before having to do that.
I would appreciate any help in the right direction with this please?
