RDP strangeness

(0) I can't find an RDP newsgroup, but if anyone knows otherwise, please let
me know.
(1) I'm using RDP v.6 to connect to Windows Server 2008 web edition (from my
dev. WS2003). If I start transferring files to the server and the, errr...
"thing" times out and presents the login screen again, I am unable to log in
with an error of "incorrect username or password". As soon as the file
transfer has completed, I am able to log in. Also, I can start another RDP
session and log in successfully (as a different user - otherwise it breaks
the first session) even whilst the first is refusing my password. Could this
be by "design"?
(2) The registry setting [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal
Server Client] "PinConnectionBar"=dword:00000001 won't stay set. Who decided
they know better than the user what setting to use? I've set the permissions
on that key to read-only, but surely that shouldn't be necessary?
Andrew
