In order for it to work I had to add the "Computers" into my security
groups which I use to divide my remote sites by office, would this be
right or is there a better way to do it?

If you apply it under computer configuration, windows settings,
scripts, startup the script will run with system permissions, which
are the highest and will execute without any password.

I've set it under "User Configuration>Windows
Settings>Scripts>Logon" Then under logon I have set the path to the
VBS file that runs my xcopy BAT file.

Sorry I should have said, we're using Server 2003 with XP clients.
I use a VB script which simply points to a BAT file. This is
applied via GPO.

My problem is that I'm still new to servers etc and making things
up as I go along. So whilst I would love to have a script to do
it for me, I lack the knowledge to run it.

I also looked at creating an MSI file, but again have no knowledge
of how to proceed and I know the company won't pay for a program
to create it for us if they can avoid it.

We have an application written in house that periodically we need
to update accross our local user base.

Normally I use xcopy to copy files from a network share to the
local PC, which has worked fine in the past. It's worked because
all the users were setup with Admin rights, in an effort to more
secure the network I have started to change everyone to standard
users. But now I can no longer xcopy files into the Program
Files folder as needed.

My original thought was to use "runas" and run it as admin, but
this would have left the admin password in the open to see and as
it turns out you can't specify the password anyway unless I use a
VB script, which is beyond me.

What other options are there?
