Even this has not really to do with your system, i would give it a try:

It is just another service with the same error.

Hi Meinolf,

thanks for your reply.

I cannot start the event viewer as the event log service wont start.

It is now happening on all our 2008 servers including one of our DC's.
I am left with no option but to rebuild the servers???
