No, I thought you wanted to make the clients the end target.

Hi Alan,

first I must install the printer and LPR service in the print server and
then point the client to the print server?

Thanks for your help.

Regards.

Luiz

I'll assume that the printers installed on the client machines are

machine OS is Windows XP or Windows Vista.

The most trouble free way to print to the client is install the LPD
Service
on the client machines and target the clients with either Standard TCP/IP
or
LPR Port on the server.

To install LPD. On XP the service is not configured to auto start on
boot
so set this in Services and you will need to open TCP port 515 in the
firewall. Vista install is in Windows Feature.

to install the Standard TCP/IP Ports with the proper configuration on the
server

cd %windir%\System32\Printing_Admin_Scripts\en-US
cscript prnport.vbs -a -h CLIENTHOSTNAME -r PORTNAME -o LPR -q
PRINTERSHARENAME -2e

You can create the ports with the UI as well but there is a 90 second tcp
query you need to wait for and be sure to enable byte-count
