Re: Windows server 2003 printing problem - dialog box on console must be clicked to resume priting

I have a Win 2003 Server Standard box that I am using as a print
server. There are around 50 network printers that are connected to
queues on this server. All our users connect to qhared queues on the
server rather than directly to the printers via IP. The problem I am
having is when there is some type of communication problem with
certain printers.

I get a call saying users can't print and when I remote in to the
server everyting looks fine except that there are several jobs in the
queue waiting. When I walk to the server room and log on to the
machine directly, the first thing I get is a dialog box about the
problem print queue. I apologize but I didn't write the exact message
down. It basically says that there was a problem printing and the
document will print when the printer becomes available. And of course,
in typical Microsoft fashion, there is no reference to which print
queue or what the problem was. As soon as I click on "OK" in the
dialog box, printing starts again and everything is fine.

How do I disable this dialog box? It's absolutely ridiculous for
printing to stop until this box is clicked on. And unless I have a
user complaint, if I just happen to log on and discover one, I have to
open each print queue to see which one is having a problem.

Let me take a guess, these are HP printers that you're using?
