Re: Cannot connect to printers

Hi,

What I meant was, the printer is showing AD. If you right click on it and go
connect it sits there trying to search for it, eventually timing out. It's a
USB connected printer. It's all running on the same subnet in a small
office.

Hello Gorge,

What do you mean with the search light? If the printer is installed on the
client, there is either a problem with printer settings that maybe
missmatch or connectivity. Please post the printer ip configuration, the
client ip configuration where it is directly connected and from the client
where you have problems.

Best regards

Hello Gorge,

How do you try to connect, i assume you install them like normal
printers with Add printer wizard, choose the printer name via AD and
install the drivers to the client where the user works?

Hi all,

I have a few printers connected to desktops that are listed in
active directory. One of them is a Laser Jet 5 and a Laser Jet 1022
(HP).

The machines that these are connected to print fine. Anyone on the
network trying to connect to these printers just sit there with the
search light... after awhile it times out.

Happens to all the printers coming off desktops, and these are
different desktops.

The client machines are XP (SP2, SP3) in a mixed domain 2000 and
2003. The 2003 domain controller has only just been bought online,
before this it was just 2000 and still having the same problems.
I've checked permissions and nothing seems to be missing so I'm a
little lost.

Thanks

.
