Not really. The Bart PE boot CD has been around for several years.
It is an extremely versatile and powerful tool when dealing with a
machine that will not boot for some reason. There are similar CDs
based on Bart's work, e.g. the one from here: http://www.UBCD4win.com
I'm sure there are other tools, but ERD Commander had nice wizards for
building boot CDs, and more importantly now Microsoft owns it and it had a
chance to become an official Microsoft sanctioned boot environment for
repairing systems. As the OS manufacturer, they could have done a LOT with
the ERD Commander tool.
