Re: Getting Server 2003 to boot via SCSI drive

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hello ,

You should check if SCSI options in your scsi card are enabled to take into
account
the boot from SCSI harddisk. (int 13)

I met that kind of problems on some old adaptec scsi cards.
Some basic adaptec or tekram scsi cards don't take into account the boot
because
they don't have this option built-in.

You should check if your SCSI card allows that.
Check also the boot.ini and the ARC path syntax.

Hello ,

To specify a SCSI driver not available on Windows CD , you must
press the F6 key when you install the operating system.
It allow you to ADD specific drivers.

It's written just at the bottom of the screen during the install

- Press F6
- Specify the path for drivers on an extra device (floppy, cd ...)
- Follow the install.
- The device will be recognised.

I guess you misunderstood me.
Windows 2003 installs fine on the SCSI drive. Even If I install it on a
IDE drive it sees fine and I can use the SCSI drives.

When I install Windows 2003 on SCSI drive, it installs fine, but cannot
boot.

Using Linux...I can get the OS to install and boot via SCSI PCI card
that I have, but Windows Server 2003 is a different story.

I can install the OS fine, but come boot time no OS is available.

Anyone got some tips?

Thanks
