Windows server 2003 x64 is installed on drive d: as a dual boot; it was
installed after 2k8. I believe I had to reinstall or repair the 2k8 boot
files and then used Vista Boot Pro to edit the BCD and add the option for
2k3.
Removing the dual boot option with Vista Boot Pro didn't help with this
problem. I no longer get the dual boot menu on start up.
Maybe there are more modified files on drive C: I need to remove? Or maybe
the Vista Boot Pro BCD editor changes the format of the BCD too much?

Hello Geskin,
Is there a Vista also installed on the disk as dual boot?
Best regards

I am running Windows Server 2008 Standard x64 RC1 which expires soon.
I am trying to upgrade to the same flavor of the RTM.
I start the install from a DVD or hard disk directory, and it tells me
that the upgrade option is disabled.
There are two bulleted messages. one about needing win2k3 or win2k8
server
to upgrade,
the second one says that c:\ProgramData must be removed or renamed. If
I
chose the new install option,
the next page warns me that other users were logged on and that this
is a problem, but it still takes me to the next dialog for choosing a
partition to install on. I cancel installation here because I want to
upgrade.
The installation process created these two files in the windows
directory:
