Re: 2k3 changed it's name/IP now I can't find it on the network?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I had never heard of Nmap. So I just downloaded it and tried it. I think
I'll stick with the IP scanner I was using. I rarely need to scan across
subnets, so it's not a big deal. And it is much easier to use.
And I had a strange problem after using nmap; I lost my internet
connectivity. I still had an IP address, but I couldn't ping my router.
When I tried to do a ipconfig/renew, I got this strange message "The
operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this
operation". So I disable and re-enabled the NIC. Still could not access
the internet, router or do a renew. I restarted my PC; same thing. I power
cycled the router, and I could get on the internet again. I probably just
wasn't holding my mouth right, or something.... but that was very odd.

You could try an IP scanner. That would show you ALL IP devices. You
can download a free one here: http://www.angryziber.com/w/Download
FYI.... it is not real accurate (misses some devices) when scanning
across multiple subnets, but on a local subnet it works great.

If you need an IP scanner (and more) then I would strongly suggest the
free AND reliable: NMAP

http://Insecure.org (nice people, no viruses or problems.)

Fresh install then I changed the IP address, name and I went back to
original
name and IP now I can't reach/ping it on the network from that server
I
can
ping everything fine how I can fix this issues. Deleted it's info
from
DHCP/DNS server still same issues?

You are unclear if you cannot ping by NAME or also by ADDRESS.

If by address then you have a basic networking problem: NIC, IP,
routing, firewalls (either intermediate or merely on the machine that
might be blocking ICMP/ping).

If address works but only NAME fails then you have a pure name
resolution problem, either/both of DNS and NetBIOS.

To check these you can usually use NSLookup to check the DNS
server, and nbtstat to see what NetBIOS resolution has taken place.

Perhaps the DNS problem might be using the wrong DNS server OR
failure to register the computer in DNS.
