Client Side Extensions (Server 2008 Question)

I downloaded the client side extensions for Windows XP and have been testing
them out with my Windows 2008 test box.

Question 1: at this page:

http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Group-Policy-related-changes-Windows-Server-2008-Part3.html

He says you all you need to use this is vista or server 08 with the remote
tools...

Am I to understand that I don't need to even have a SINGLE domain controller
at all upgraded to server 2008 to use the client side extension features
like preferences (map drives, shortcuts etc)

Question 2: I notice when using the map drive extension that if you give a
drive a name and have say 3 drive mappings specified on the windows xp
client all of the sides will be named what the last drive name was specified
as. Is this a known issue or is there anywhere I can report this?

Thanks in advance,

John W
