Re: NTbackup fail on one file only

I did put all the servers on the same (new) switch the same day this
started... I'll enable jumbo frames on it... perhaps that will make the
difference since the files is 43GB+...???

the backup verification on the Exchange server finishes at approx. 11:11pm,
the file server doesn't access the bkf file until 11:55pm

I've been using NTbackup for a couple years now, as follows: File server
(which has the VS80 tape drive, backs itself and also the backup files
from
the Exchange server, nightly. The Exchange server backs up the Ex storage
group to a file and the systems state to a file, then the file server
pulls
those two files down to tape each night. This process has worked
flawlessly
until lately.

Now I get the message in my NTbackup logs as follows:

Backup started on 1/10/2008 at 12:03 AM.
WARNING: Portions of "\Exchange.bkf" cannot be read. The backed up data
is
corrupt or incomplete.
This file will not restore correctly.
Backup completed on 1/10/2008 at 2:44 AM.
Directories: 1
Files: 2
Corrupt: 1
Bytes: 43,685,847,664
Time: 2 hours, 41 minutes, and 41 seconds

I verified that the NTbackup on the Exchange server is working with NO
errors, so the Exchanged.bkf is a good file! however when the file server
pulls it down to tape the log spits this error out. All other files
(local
and remote) gets backed up successfully (and verified), with the exception
of
the Exchange.bkf.

I have Acronis making an image of the file server (vss enabled),
nightly...
however they are done at separate times (Acronis is done by 10:30pm,
NTbackup
starts at 12 midnight).

I've deleted the existing Exchange file... (made no difference), made sure
my imaging is not timed at same time... the Exchange.bfk is approx 43GB's
in
size.... at this point IM STUMPED!!??!

Maybe the process that generates the .bkf file hasn't finished
by the time you're trying to pull it to tape. Have a look at the
details in the corresponding backup log!
