I would try at the WS printing to file, and then put that file onto a shared spool folder, like Z:\Spool ...then at the server run a spooler program to send it over to the device. Herein an old post to interpolate...
Setup a C:\Spool Folder on YOUR PC and Share to all on network. Then get printfile (via http://www.lerup.com/printfile/ ) and set it up as a spooler with a link in the startup folder, to search for all files in C:\Spool and send to local HP 810C printer. Next all other PC's setup HP 810C System Printer (for that PC's O/S) as PRINT TO FILE (via port settings). Next map a netshare drive as Y: to YOUR PC's C:\Spool Folder. Then tell Users when printing to HP 810C, type in Y:\ and give a basic name like, file.prn or plot.plt ...then hit enter and away the print file goes to the spool folder, then the printfile grabs it and sends it off to the printer!
Or get a print spooler and connect it to the LAN and the device's USB.

printers are shared, one is an old HP600 DesignJet, the other is an HP
CP1700. The HP600 responds normally. The CP1700 is very slow to
respond. Opening up the properties window and/or printing (very small
files) can take between 8-12 seconds.
I don't know if this matters, but most of our printing is done through
AutoCAD 2004 and 2007.
