Ok I will set the Default Domain Password settings back to default.
What idealy should I set them to as I cannot remeber the defaults.

The defaults are:
Enforce password history: 24 passwords remembered
Maximum password age: 42 days
Minimum password age: 1 days
Minimum password length: 7 characters
Password must meet complexity requirements: Enabled
Store passwords using reversible encryption: Disabled

Those defaults are a baseline for you - you can stick with them or change them to whatever fits your desires. Again, it is recommended to a strong policy in order to have your users choose strong passwords. You better are a little too restrictive in your settings than too loose.
