Hello Brian,
Is it running now, can not really follow? But the client has realley a lot of different ip addresses, so which are the other used for? You need only to connect to the server the 192.168.1.x net addresses.
Best regards

Is very strange! If I try to connect wiht \\servername\sharename I
get "the network path was not found". However if I connect with
\\ip_address\sharename everything is fine. DNS appears to be
working OK. WINS is working OK and I can ping all the servers and
clients by qualified and unqualified hostname.
What should I be looking for here? Using Windows Server
2003R2/32-Bit with WinXP Pro/32-Bit, all on Dell hardware.

MUP is utilized to resolve and direct UNC paths, by default MUP uses
DFS as it's first search path before looking at any other redirector.
Problems with DFS will cause a search to hang.
The hotfix for this has no effect (they replaced the Ntlanman.dll with
a newer version)
I've since reverted to the original Ntlanman.dll (un-installed the
hotfix KB915377) and added the following key to the registry until
Microsoft can fix the root cause:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Mup]
"DisableDFS"=dword:00000001
After rebooting, UNC path resolutions were back to normal speeds.
