Does it caused by Disk IO Performance?.
is there any tools that I can used to check the Disk IO Usage?
I have noticed that even the CPU it 50% used for NTbackup, the disk write
speed is very slow.

It happens again today, I have checked and make sure the antivirus doesnot
running since it does not charge CPU.
system Idle using 50% CPU and Ntbackup use another 50%CPU.
what can i do for further check?

My Antivirus software is F-prot, It cannot set the exclude for real-time
protect. and I have excluded the backup folder at the manual scan.
My OS is windows 2003 SBS and backup to IOMega Rev USB disk.
I do normail backup everyday.
the backup is start at 23pm and only backup at that time, other things are
start from 3am. and normail the backup is finished at 1am.
there is no unknow process running when backup slower , I have a software to
check for the unknow process every half hour.
So , looks everything is same as normally but NTbackup suddenly used high
cpu and very slower.
I have exclude the backup folder for antivirus, so may need another month to
wait for it happens again.
Cheer,
thanks very much for help

This is more than likely an issue with something running in the back ground
during the backups either on the server doing the backups or a server it may
be backing up over the network. Did you find the setting in the anti-virus
and change it to not scan on backup? Are there nay log you can look at for
the backup software? Check for scheduled tasks that may be running during the
backup window...check all servers. This is probally not the backup software
that is causing the problem or it would happen all the time. What type of
backup are you doing, full, incremental, differential? What anti-virus
software are you running? what time do you start your backups?

I tried again without any change, and it works well again.
it only happens anciently so I cant repeat the problem myself.
Is there any log that I can check? there is nothing special in Event Log

Stop the Anti-Virus and try it again. Also, look for the option "Do not scan
on backup" or something like that. My guess that is what is slowing you down.

It happens again with 50-93% CPU used.
The antivirus is running but didnot used CPU. and I cannot found any other
programs with >3%CPU .

Check to see if Anti-Virus running during that time. Also there should be a
setting that does not scan files on backup. Also, is there a process that
runs once a month that conflicts with the backup window.

Hi ,
Sometimes , the Ntbackup is very slow, it takes about 6 times slower than
the normal time in every drive. Normally, I backup a 30G in 2hours, but
when it slow, it needs 12hours to do it. nothing else, just slow , and it
happens on different Tape.
anyone has any idea how to found the problem ?
this is not frequently, it may happens once a month.
