Hi

My n/w setup is: Windows 2003 Enterprise SP1 DC & XP, 2000 Pro Clients with
upto date patches updated.

My Query: I want to set Security Permission to control user's access. I
logged on as Domain Admin rights credentials in DC.

1) I created two Securiy Group & added user's in the respective group (Scope
as Global & type as Security ).
2) I created a Folder & shared named as "Test" with full control to Everyone
Share Permission.
3) I added the security groups into that folder & set full control
permission to one group & Read & Execute, List folder contents, Read, write
to another group.
4) I am unchecked " Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to
propagate to this object......."
5) Removed default Permission groups other than created Security Groups.
6) I logged on the domain user in one of my xp client machine, open a new
MS-Excel file & tried to save that file, the error shows as: "The Filename
is already
exists, Do u want to save changes (Y/N)"
7)If i press "y" => \\servername\sharename\filename, the FOLDER is marked as
READ Only" message showed.

For other programs, no issues. I checked that folder becomes Readonly &
changed the arribute from "READ-Only", but it was not changed.

Anyone pls help anyone to comeout from this.

Rajaguru

Of course, the other thing you can do is look at the effective
permissions for an individual in the group you're working with and
attack the problem from that prespective....
