If I recall correctly you cannot extend the system volume unless the disk
was formatted as dynamic (not converted from basic) before you installed the
OS. Sounds to me that your best option is to backup the system, reformat,
then restore...

I'm running out of space on the system volume. There is some free and
contiguous space left on the disk. I was going to use diskpart(free :))
but
will need to boot using ntfs boot disk to do it. Can somebody recommend
preferably free boot disk whch will let me launch diskpart. Any tips on
better way of extending system partition are appreciated. I will be
extending
1 server only, so minimum cost is a major factor.
