Thanks everyone for your responces. I found that Veritas (Symantec) also
has
a product called Backup Exec System Recovery that will do the trick.
Because
I already use a lot of their products, and because it is about 500.00
cheaper
I have desided to give it a try. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We are using Acronis for one of our remote users' laptop......be VERY
careful.....it works like a dream for most functions but - and I may just
be
old school here - I would not trust the hardware differences of the boxes
are more than 3 years apart.

Yes, there is a big difference. Acronis Universal Restore
has an inbuilt mechanism to force a hardware scan, similar
to the scan that takes place during a fresh installation.
Check the Acronis home page for details.

I already use Ghost. Is there some difference that the mentioned
software
provides to combat the difference in hardware at startup which in turn
gives
you the blue screen of death??

Hello everyone,
Simple question but perhaps not a simple answer? I have and image
(using
ghost) of my main AD server. I would like to move this to an
entirely
new
server meaning new hardware. What is the best process in order to
do
this
without getting the blue screen of death because of HALS issues
etc.??
Any
help would be appreciated as I really do not wish to rebuild this
server.
:-(
Thanks in advance everyone. Oh yes...I am in a wee bit of a rush
on
this.
:-(
You could use Acronis DriveImage Server Universal Restore. Not
cheap but perhaps cheaper than rebuilding the machine.
