our job runs every three minutes 24X7, so the first solution is not feasable
for us. What other options are availavle?

We use Blat as a command line email tool and each scheduled job emails
when it is done. No email means it fails.

There are several strategies you can use to program a system that
notifies you if a scheduled job fails.
