folder redirection for "my documents" will not work while logged on to the win23k server DC's

i've applied folder redirection (desktop and my documents) on my domain. i have 2 windows server 2003 machines and a few xp pro workstations.

everything seems to work fine on the xp machines, but i'm running into an issue with "my documents" on the windows server 2003 machines when i log on to the domain controllers. i can't access certain files on the desktop (like putty) and i can't access the my documents link on the desktop. when i try accessing the folder i get an "your current security settings do not allow this action" error message. and trying to access certain files, in this case putty, i get the following error message: "windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

oddly, i can access the readable contents in my documents when i access files in "my documents" through explorer; however, i can't run executable files. to add to the weirdness, i have no problems accessing these executable files when accessing them through the actual location of the "my documents" folder.

any and all help with be greatly appreciated.
