Hi,

We recently created home folders for our users on a Windows 2003 R2
server. They work just fine most of the time. A few, 4 out of 60 so
far, people experience an "Access Denied" message to their "H" drive
when they log on in the morning. No entries in Event Viewer on the
client, the server that hosts the folder and the DC that indicates an
issue. The only temporary fix that I have found is to go to ADUC and
reset the drive letter on their Profile tab from "H" to something
else and then back to "H". Have them log on and off and it's fixed,
for a random amount of time, 1 day to over a week. Everyone else has
an "H" drive that works perfectly. All the workstations have XP Pro
with the exact same patches and some are brand new and others are in
service almost 2 years.

Anyone have an idea here? This is driving me nuts!

Thanks!!!

What are the share permissions on the parent share where your home
directories live?
What are the NTFS permissions on one of these users' home directories?
Do you use login scripts or persistent Windows mapped drives? I strongly
suggest you use the former...
