| If Sonat's suggestion does not fix the problem then you can
| temporarily "convert" the disk to a basic disk by booting
| the machine with a Win98 boot disk (www.bootdisk.com),
| then running ptedit.exe
| (ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/tools/pq/utilities/)
| It lets you change the type of your partition - simply make it NTFS.
| As long as you change the partition type only and remember WHERE
| you changed it and WHAT it was before, the change is fully reversible.
This was interesting to learn! Thank You!
I think there is one other tool that can also do this:
Boot from Slackware installation Disk-1 and type:
cfdisk
cfdisk /dev/hda
cfdisk /dev/hdb
....
It is very easy to use. It can add/remove partitions or change partition
types (completely reversable and safe). The dynamic volume is displayed like
a partition so you can change its type (shown as a hex code). There is a
table with many partition types and their hex-codes (if I do not mistake, 07
is NTFS).
| You should also think about the robustness of your installation. How
| many sets of keys do you have for your car? More than one? Why?
| How many admin accounts do you have for your servers? Just the
| one? Why?
|
