Hi

I'm a bit lost on this one, and I really would appreciate any help...

I'm used to SBS which allows you to setup the user Home Directories
automatically..., and then assing the correct rights etc under the
PROFILE section..

I'm setting it up on a new Win2003 R2 server...

Could anyone tell me exactly what I need to do?.... Obviously, I need
to create a USERS share, but what rights etc does it need to
have....?, and who and what needs rights to it...?

(a step by step simple guide would be good... :-) )

Basics:

Set up a share on the server (e.g., d:\home)
Share it (e.g., HOME$) and give everyone full control in the share
permissions (see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/817009 for
NTFS defaults/permissions)

Define the users' home directory paths as \\server\home$\%username% in ADUC
and they should be automatically created with the appropriate permission. If
you're using folder redirection via group policy (an excellent idea) you
will want to make sure you have configured that correctly, too....

If you copy an existing, properly configured user account (as a sort of
template) in ADUC when creating a new user, it should work just fine.
