Re: Print queues stall, restart, stall

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I have tried both settings. No Joy.

Todd,

Have you checked the print driver to ensure that it isn't set wrong? Such as

"Spool print documents so program finish printing faster" under the Advanced
tab of the printer
is set to "Start printing after last page is spooled" ? That could cause
the delay your seeing.

Hi All,

I am running a Windows 2000 server, sp4 with Citrix MetaFrame XP
1.3.

When the Citrix Published App users prints a batch of jobs (about
thirty to forty seperate entries in the printer's queue), it shows up
in the
printers queue, but stalls for up to 20 minutes, then will empty
5 or so jobs to the print server, stall for another 20 minutes,
until all the print jobs are finished.

The print server is a Red Hat Linux server and will accept jobs
on either LPR or Samba (on Windows, Samba's port is called "local
port").
The print server accepts jobs without problem from ALL of the other
60
computers on the network. When the Windows 2000 print queues start to
stall, the print server's queues shows empty. Bypassing the print
server
and printing directly to the printer's Jet Direct card does not change
the
symptom. The Windows 2000 server is only using about 900 meg of 4000
meg
RAM. And has lots of room left on its hard drives. Processor usage
is
only around 5 to 10 percent.

Is there some print queue stall patch out there? Any idea how to
solve this?

Many thanks,
-T
