Thanks for your help Herb. I've emailed them for the correct
settings.

Why is the web server still operational with the wrong gateway?

Show me your UNEDITED TEXT output from "IPConfig /all >config.txt".

Your browser is NOT going to work beyond the current subnet,
if you have the wrong default gateway.

What's
caused the settings to change, if they've changed at all? I can't
believe it's been setup like this in the first place.

Well, you were editing this stuff to get that wrong Network Mask
in there.

Honestly, and no criticism intended, we just assume that either you
or someone made changes or something is wrong with your report.

I've not changed a thing. I rarely remote desktop and if I do it's to
add users to FTP accounts. It's been running fine for over 12 months.
DNS look ups stopped working 3 days ago - that's why I've gone in to
the TCP/IP settings. I wanted to add a third DNS server
(212.227.123.78) . In the Advanced TCP/IP Settings dialog box there is
a tab for DNS. Everytime I click on the DNS tab I get the error
message described in my first post.

Results from ipconfig /all below:

Windows IP Configuation

Primary Dns Suffix:
Node Type: unknown
IP Routing Enabled: No
WINS Proxy Enabled: No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

DHCP Enabled: No
IP Address: 212.227.21.59
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway: 10.255.255.1
DNS Servers: 195.20.244.99 and 195.20.224.234- Hide quoted text -

The gateway is correct. I've just been told the subnet should be
255.255.255.0

.
