To anyone who can help,

I am having a problem trying to map to an admin share on one of my Windows
2003 Server machines. We have three Windows 2003 Servers setup and I am
able
to map to the admin share C$ on one of them, but on the other two if I
attempt to map to the \\server\c$ I get an error that says "the specified
network name is no longer available."

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what is causing this and
I
have searched high and low on the internet for this error and I find
articles
for everything but my specific problem.

I am able to ping the machines IP address and I can see the machine in
Active Directory. I am thinking it may be a policy setting but for the
life
of me I can't seem to figure out which one. Like I said above, I CAN get
to
the C$ admin share on one of the machines. So I compared the Group Policy
Security Options on that machine to the Group Policy Security Options on
the
machine that I CAN'T map to and they are identical.

If there is anyone out there who may have an idea about my problem and a
possible solution or what I need to check to fix, I would be forever
greatful.

Thank you SO much!

Lawrin Walker

Here are a few things I would try:
- Connect to C$ from the machine itself instead of from a different machine.
- Try to connect to D$ (if drive D: exists).
- Check that admin shares are enabled:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Set the value of AutoShareServer to 1
Set the value of AutoShareWks to 1
- Create the following share and try to connect to it:
net share C=C:\

If all fails then my last suggestion will give you an easy work-around
solution.
