Fancy that, I just got done checking my own BIOS settings to see
if I could disable sleep altogether. And you are correct, these are
newer Dells, mostly GX260 or GX280 models. But I haven't seen
anything in the BIOS of mine to suggest the BIOS is causing the
sleep. The only option was between S1 and S3 modes.

That's exactly it. I forget which is which, but you want the one that is
likely not set now - "system recovers more quickly from blahblahblah".

But I'll check
those actually having the narcolepsy fits and see what theirs say.

Any other suggestions?

No, my suggestion should work. Post back if it doesn't.

I know there's probably a simple enough solution to this that I'm
overlooking, but we have several workstations that REFUSE to stop
going to sleep when no one is logged in regardless of what we do.
I've tried logging in as myself, as a domain admin, and as a local
machine admin, and even though I turn off sleep in all of these
places that settings change doesn't carry over to when you're logged
out.
Could someone fill me in on:

A) How to stop these workstations from going to sleep when no
one is logged in.

B) Explain if it is possible to enact and enforce this change
through a GPO, and if so, how to do it.

Thanks in advance for any help. This sleep issue is making it
difficult to roll out anti-virus and WSUS updates at night to these
machines as they're usually asleep.

If nobody's logged in, it isn't Windows that's doing it - check the
BIOS power save settings. Newish Dells, for example, are set to
suspend when idle for a while. Time for desk visits.
