Re: Reset NTFS ACLs

Right-click on the directory, Security tab, Advanced button, Owner tab, set owner as administrators, click apply.

Close all windows.

Right-click on the directory, Security tab, select administrators, set to full control, click apply.

This should do it.

Basically, the access is denied is because NO ACL in the list matches your account or it is corrupt. Resetting the owner will allow you to set the security entries then.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

We have several directories on a Windows 2003 Server that somehow have
incorrect permissions set that not even the domain admin can access. I
believe something went wrong during a domain reorg a year ago. We now have
multiple directories that cannot be accessed or removed (we want to remove
them). Sysinternals AccessEnum reports "Access denied" when run as domain
administrator.

In short, is there any way or util we can use to reset/remove these
directories?

Thanks,
Manso
