OK !! So brought a Dell Dimension. (had a great price though)
installed Windows Server 2003
Worked great for 3 Months... No problems

So, today i popped in a cd rom, and viola.. my E Drive went missing..
where
the heck is my E drive, I think.

Looking in Device manager, it was sitting with the yellow exlamation
marks..
Ok
go to Dell site, download the Driver, and then when installing the Driver,
it complains, that the CD drive is missing, Darn, thing.. I can see it and
the Software tells me its Missing.. now i am sort getting pissed off..

So. I uninstall the Driver, which is not working anyways.. (!) & reboot .
God bless Reboots.. it fixes all our problems..
But Not Today.. still the (!)

Then, i Bring up the Computer in Safe mode, do the Last Know Good config
thingy..
Still no luck

Open the PC, Check Cables, -- everything looks good, drive is spinning and
has power ..

Now i am Pissed !!!

Then i call Dell.. here the sweet thing, they say, that They CANNOT
support
it after 30 minutes listening to some crappy music..
the Reason they cannot fix it, because i uninstalled XP home. and get this
CD Rom will not work correctly with 2003 Server so you need to go back to
the
Software which came with the PC . On hearing that i keep the phone down (I
would have loved to see that Techs Face at that time)

You guys are my last Resort !! Please Help

How do i get my CD ROM to Come back to life.. ooh yeah and also my mapped
DVD drive from my laptop just stopped working on this machine..

Don't know whats going on .. but i am sleepy now... (11:40 PM) yawn..

Do Help

Girish

Have a look at the small print in the warranty agreement
that came with your machine. It probably says that the
Dell will support the machine only if you leave the original
OS in place. While this might inconvenience you, it makes
commercial sense. It would drive the Dell helpdesk staff
insane if they had to resolve problems with every OS under
the sun! If you have ever worked on a helpdesk then you
would know what I mean.

Your current problem is probably caused by an inappropriate
filter setting. Have a look here:
