Re: Server not accepting changed passwords

Hi,

1. Yes it's a domain user, the server is a member server in the same domain.

2. The server is only used for Printing and SharePoint, attempting to print
with prompt for a username/password, going to Sharepoint similarly prompts
for username/password supplying an alternative user/password works
correctly.

3. The username/password that got changed fails.

This doesn't effect every user, only occasionally does it happen.

Thanks
Chris

Hi,

First, since this issue happens intermittently, the troubleshooting steps
may be troublesome and time-consuming. I'll appreciate your understanding.

Before we go any further, I'd like to know:

1. The user you mentioned is domain user , right?

2. When the system prompts to ask for the user name and password? I mean,
which operation did you perform caused such behavior?

3. When the system prompts, you type the user name and password that just
changed , what happend? Get passed or not?

If you mean when you use IE, it prompts to ask user name and password,
check the browser setting under internet options->security->custom level
for user authentication->logon. If "prompt for user name and password"
is
set, that would explain the behavior. Next I'd check IIS security settings
on the site, which is normally set to Integrated Windows Authentication.

Best regards,

Vincent Xu

Morning,

I've got a Windows 2003 server that acts as our Sharepoint and Print
Server.
Occasionally when a user changes their password the server doesn't pick
up
on the change and prompts them for their username/password, this doesn't
happen with all users only one or two and I can't see any errors in the
Event Logs, has anyone else experienced this issue?

When prompted I can use an alternative username/password without issue.

Thanks
Jon
