vssadmin delete Shadows /All fails

Hi Iam getting error saying "No items found that satisfy the query"
when i try to delete shadowcopies using the cli "vssadmin delete
Shadows /All". But the system does show shadowcopies when i use
vssadmin list shadows. Can anybodyplease let me know what could be the
problem.
