And also what are the configurations. Are documents typically pretty
large? Do you have bidirectional support enabled? Have you tried
changing the setting from spool documents to send directly to the
printer? Do you have any anti-virus software scanning the
%systemroot%\system32\spool\printers directory? Do you have enough
resources (HDD space, RAM) on the server to service all of the
requests?

How many print servers do you have?

Hi all, we support schools, they all have a windows 2003 SP1 server in
them using AD. We have XP SP2 HP desktops, all standard stuff.

We have been having big problems with all our 1200 inkjets. We are now
having the same problem with our 3550 lasers.

The problem is that the print Qs get stuck. A Q would show a job as
printing, but the printer would be doing nothing. If we restart the
spooler on the server, the printer bursts into life. These are using HP
jet direct boxes.

We found away of sorting the 1200s out, by using 1100 drivers but the
colour output was poor, HP were useless.

We are now getting around a dozen calls a day with people reporting
that a job is stuck in the Q or could we clear the Q.

I noticed there is a hotfix by MS but we can't download it from their
site!

Any ideas??
