Re: Automatic logoff after successful logon

Thank you, you found the hitch. :}

The file was there but the registry key was missing!
"Userinit"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\userinit.exe,"

You've got the touchdown, and I made the extra point. 7 Points

You save my day.

It is usually kept in %SystemRoot%\system32 and it is
referenced here: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current
Version/Winlogon/Userinit

In your case the file is not where it should be according to
the registry entry.

Thank you for replying.
I checked your suggestion, this is not the case. C:\ is the system.
What makes me crasy is, there are no, NO event log entries about anything
wrong.
Even when I login and he logs me out!
If it where Policy, how could I login? Also on the other DC in the same OU
I
haven't the problem.
I cleaned the run registry of user, system, startup, scheduled Task.
I tried another user, one without profile, always the same!

Do know of a way to enhance the loggin?

Thanks

Dear

Windows 2003 SP1 DC after applying the latest patches incl. ie7 unable
to
logon localy.

After entering the logon information the Server displays:
"Applying your personal setting" > "Loging off" > "Saving your
settings"

Does anyone have a clue, what the Problem could be?

Best regards
Markus

This is usually the result of an incorrect system drive letter.
Run psexec.exe (www.sysinternals.com) on a networked
machine to run cmd.exe on your server, then check your
system drive. Is it C: or is it something else?
