Use the Control Panel|Add New Hardware wizard and choose 'Have Disk' option
and point to the manufacturer's driver.

|I have a Canon MF5770 scanner that is designer to be used on Windows 2003.
| am using Windows Small Business Server 2003, and the pc does not recognize
| the scanner. In device manager it is listed as an unknown device. In
| addition, when I click on Add Device under Scanners and Cameras, Windows
| not do anything. I keep getting the error: Cannot open the scanner. The
| scanner is not active or in use by another application. I talked to Canon
| support, and performed many troubleshooting steps, and they could not
| determine the reason for this issue. They determined that there must be a
| Windows issue. My old scanner has been completely uninstalled, and this
| the only scanner on the device. I have even disconnected all other usb
| devices and it still doesn't work. Please advise what I can do with/in
| Windows (registry, device manager, etc) to get this working.
