Re: errors running scheduled tasks

before i got your suggestions, i changed the "run as" user to the domain admin
before this, the run as user was a copy of the domain admin
then i tried the task sceduler's run now option, and it worked normally
then i scheduled it for <5 minutes, and that ran normally as well

then i got your reply (thank you)
i checked the log, and it said the job returned an exit code of (0)
does that mean it was successfull?

the log entries for the attempts to run this job proir to the last
successfull attempt had several different errors:
"...maybe because the computer is now idle...."
"...access is denied"
"...runtime exceeded the configured maximum"

-there was an un-expected cold-boot due to a power failure 2 days ago, could
this (the cold boot) really be what solved it?

-the job ftp's a text file to another computer
-i must wait for a responce from this other computer before i will know if
the job actiually completed (even though the task scheduler said it did)
-i should know this tomorrow morning

-i looked for the Control Panel|Admin Tools|Local Security
Policy\Local Policies\User Rights Assignments
"Log on as a batch job" thing, but i could not find that on the win2003 server

i have a group policy snap in to administer policies; is it in there?

Scheduled Tasks|Advanced|View Log may provide some details. If the job
connects to another machine you may need to add the user/ group 'logon as
batch job' rights (server side). Control Panel|Admin Tools|Local Security
Policy\Local Policies\User Rights Assignments
"Log on as a batch job"

If the task completes but the job does not then there is a problem in the
job itself. Remember that if it involves network resources to make sure the
user account has permissions to the resources and also use UNC paths as
mapped drives won't natively exist when no one is logged on.
