Re: /PAE and "Server is not operational" in Windows 2003 Enterprise Edtn.

First, you don't need /PAE if you only have 4GB of RAM (and unless you need
3GB of virtual address space for running processes on the machine, you
shouldn't use /3GB either). As to the error message, have you looked at the
following KB article? Sounds like you could have some domain trust issues,
an IPSEC policy interfering, or TCP filtering enabled. If you've got any
trusts configured in that domain, my money's on the KB article :)...

I have this big problem. I just got a new machine that I have to get in
production.
It has 4 GB of RAM and 2 processors. I have to install Windows 2003
Enterprise Edition.

I do that and it only sees 2 GB of RAM. After I joined this station in a
Windows 2000 domain I tried to add the /PAE switch in boot.ini.
It doesn't boot anymore. I tried adding also /3GB. It comes up ok, it sees
4GB of RAM but there's another problem.
When I try to access domain users (to set up sharing permissions for a
folder) I cannot. It says "The server is not operational".

I also tried installing Windows 2003 SP1. After this the system sees all
the
memory without any other switch in boot.ini, but same problem as above
("The server is not operational").

Please help me.

Thanks in advance.
