Thanks for replying.
I refer to the MS Windows XP boot screen.
(Black with XP and a progress bar)
Replaced with the company logo by adding
a BMP to the local Windows directory
and adding an entry in the local boot.ini.
I'm trying replace this screen thoughout the domain
without having to visit each workstation.
I was also interested in customising the screen
which follows that, or maybe the login box itself
if anyone has any leads?
Many thanks again for replying.

The "boot screen" to most of use means the boot loader menu presented by
NTLDR early in the boot phase that lists the different operating systems to
start. So some details are in order here.
