Re: Time Service

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Maybe use some none-domain joined computer? Maybe set them up in virtual
environment (e.g. Virtual PC or Virtual Server)...

Hi,

I wouldn't recommend that -- in the long run it would only cause you a
lot
of problems.

Kerberos authentication protocol used in domain relies on correct time on
the clients. If the client is of by more then 5 minutes -- it will fail
to
authenticate to AD using Kerberos.

Hi All,

Hope that someone can help me; I have a bit of a problem with the time
service.

We are currently running a 2003 SBS which has the time service running
on
it
synchronizing all of the clients PC times. However this has lead to
problems,
at certain times of the month some users need to backdate some
transaction,
in order to do this they have to change the date on their PC's.

What we have found is that they start back dating the transactions and
half
way through with out them noticing the date and time are resynchronized
with
the server meaning that a number of transactions go onto the system
with
the
wrong date.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to set the time service so that it
only
resynchronizes at client start up?

Hope that some one can help?
