Hi Pegasus,
maybe that am not a professional administrator like you,
but this is how people can learn.
so please advice cause i think that we are in the final steps.
i'll explain what am did,
the OS is Win2k Server
whit 2 SCSI HDD
1. partitioned the second HDD to 2 partitions F: and G:
2. it asked me for the type of partition and its just one enabled "Simple
volume" so there is no choice
3. it becomes like this
http://www.geocities.com/cancer236/untitled.jpg
4. copy all c: drive to f: using Bart PE boot CD and xcopy command
5. unplugged first HD from the server and plugged the second one on the same
port
6. powered-up the server but it doesn't see it as a bootable drive
should i change something on MBR or any thing i missed
also i tried to make it primary using right-click but didnt found any
helpful thing
maybe its not on Win2k
Please advice
Best regards
Fadi

I suspect that you're posting in the wrong newsgroup.
I worded my explanations such that a server administrator
could easily understand them. If you are not an administrator
then I recommend that you post in a non-server newsgroup
where explanations tend to be more detailed.
Marking a partition "active" is done under diskmgmt.msc, either
by ticking the appropriate box while creating the partition or by
right-clicking it later on.

Hi and sorry to disturb you,
but i followed your instructions
but i think i missed one
Here is a free solution that works:
1. Connect the old and the new disk at the same time. (Done)
2. Boot into Windows. (Done)
3. Partition and format the new disk. Mark the primary active. ( sorry, i
dont know how )
4. Boot the machine with a Bart PE boot CD. (Done)
5. Use xcopy.exe to copy the old disk Make sure to include (Done)
ACLS, hidden and system files.
6. Disconnect the old disk. This is important! (Done)
7. Boot with the new disk. (Done)
it doesnt see it as primary!!!
Please advice
Thanks and best regards
Fadi
