A quick test, consisting of creating two such shares, oneThanks Pegasus,
with and one without the trailing $, will show you how it
works. I just tried it for myself.
Now I understand that I have not expressed myself clearly, sorry about
I meant to ask if I can assign/create a friendly name to my existing
network share Installers$ and not if I could create a multiword friendly
share name like "My favorite installers$"
I simply wanted to keep my hidden share and at the client side assign a
friendly name to it without the trailing dollar.
I understand now that this is probably not possible

Geir
You expressed yourself very clearly. What I suggested in my
previous reply was this: Since you appear to be a system
administrator, you should take the initiative and try this out
for yourself. Create two shares with friendly names, one with
a trailing $, the other without, then see what happens. This
is an easy test and you will remember the result much better
than if I gave you the answer. It took me three minutes to
do this test - I'm sure you can do it in the same time.
Enjoy the experience of being inquisitive!
